contents: Throughout the whole paper-making process, hand -made as well as machine-made, things can go wrong: the paper may tear, crease or get soiled. When the rolls of paper are cut, the sheets are counted by hand and checked for this kind of irregularities. After they have been checked they are wrapped in `reams'.
