contents: Illustration by Haatje Pieters Oosterhuis (1748-1854) of `the merry John on his birthday', with a present from his uncle in his right hand, a book which he is showing to his father. A return to a certain realism fitting into the Dutch tradition is characteristic of the illustrations by this Haatje Pieters Oosterhuis, who did, however, not engrave her own designs. The prints in this booklet are engraved by H.W. Hoogkamer.
