contents: This picture of a printing house at the end of the 18th century shows the traditional image of the procedures. To the left a boy is holding two ink balls in his hand, and in the middle a printer stands at the printing press (frisket and tympan are closed down on the type matter) operating the bar. In the background the compositor is working, to his right are the cases, and above are the printed sheets which have been hung out to dry.
