contents: These illustrations are derived from one of the most beautiful collections of Bible prints published in the Netherlands in the 18th century. The most important graphic artists have contributed to it: Gerard Hoet, Jan Goeree, Jacob de Later, Bernard Picart, Jan Luiken (vignettes) and others. The publisher, Pieter Mortier in Amsterdam, (1661-1711) was the son of a French refugee and not afraid to risk his neck with prestigious and risky editions.
