contents: This illustration by an anonymous engraver after Jan van de Velde shows a party celebrating at a loaded table. This - very soon to become popular - theme enters the domain of art around 1600. There are performances in the open air in a park-like environment, or, as is the case here, in an interior at night. This type of songbook in oblong format and provided with idyllic illustrations was destined for young people of good family and was enormously successful in the first half of the 17th century.
