contents: Apart from the 'great type foundry hall', the N.V. Lettergieterij 'Amsterdam', voorheen N. Tetterode, also had this hall for hand-type-casting machines. In the process of engraving, casting and composing type not much had changed until the end of the 19th century when mechanization quickly got under way, also in the Netherlands. The N.V. Lettergieterij 'Amsterdam', formerly N. Tetterode, used machines of American make, but also of their down construction.
