contents: In this brochure Roeloffzen & Hübner show examples of line blocks and also the new technique of half-tone. In line blocks an illustration is transferred photographically onto a metal plate (copper or zinc) and then etched in relief into a block. For illustrations only composed of lines or fields, the technique was excellent but shades of grey or half-tones could not be shown properly. With the arrival of half-tone (or half-tone screen printing), a technique whereby printing was done using points and not lines or areas, this became possible.
