"Proeven van reproductiën in zink voor de boekdrukpers", Amsterdam, 1888 Roeloffzen & Hübner (uitgever/publisher) year: 1888 type: titelblad title page technique: gravure detail: nee dimensions: 23 x 17 cm. related terms: brochures druktechnieken period: 19e eeuw classification: D: Geschiedenis van de boekdrukkunst contents: In this brochure Roeloffzen & Hübner show examples of line blocks and also the new technique of half-tone. In line blocks an illustration is transferred photographically onto a metal plate (copper or zinc) and then etched in relief into a block. For illustrations only composed of lines or fields, the technique was excellent but shades of grey or half-tones could not be shown properly. With the arrival of half-tone (or half-tone screen printing), a technique whereby printing was done using points and not lines or areas, this became possible. origineel: source: Proeven van reproductiën in zink voor de boekdrukpers. - Amsterdam: Roeloffzen & Hübner, titelblad ©description: Den Haag Koninklijke Bibliotheek ©reproduction: Amsterdam Bibliotheek KVB Universiteitsbibliotheek UVA |
