contents: The shop of the bookseller Pieter Meijer Warnars (1792-1869) is one of the few contemporary pictures of interiors of bookshops of the end of the 18th and the beginning of the 19th centuries. Most of the books on the shelves are bound: they are no longer offered in gatherings. However, as is apparent from the bookbinders instruments in this painting, a bookbinder must still have been present in Warnar's shop to bind books for the customers.
