contents: This late-18th-century classroom (of which the first edition appeared in 1790), does not differ much from the classrooms of former centuries. Johannes Hazeu (1745-1835) was one of the most popular authors of children's books from this period. According to him, a good teacher should not only teach children to learn and read but also to teach them Christian virtues and merits.
