contents: This picture from "De Boekbinder" by Hendrik de Haas, shows examples of the various formats in which cardboard can be cut without loss of remnants, furthermore the lacing of the boards, the 'headband embroidery', i.e. the sewing round the core of the headbands of the book, and the tying up: the stretching of cords along the raised bands to fasten the spine cover firmly to the spine and to set off the raised bands.
