contents: Minutes of the booksellers' guild in Amsterdam from 25 January to 21 March 1808. Once the guilds were abolished in 1798 their existence continued to be a matter of discussion. In 1808, they were able, through the 'Corporations Act' of 1808, to function as corporations, to some extent like the former guilds. That lasted until 1810: after the annexation by France the centralising measures by Napoleon were also introduced throughout the Netherlands. For the book trade this meant a restriction on the number of printing presses and booksellers.
