contents: The contents of this booklet, based on a lecture in the Antwerp Museum Plantin-Moretus in 1904, is considered a break with the past and announces a new phase in Dutch typography. 'Openlijke erkenning en blootlegging van zet- en druktechniek is de alpha en omega; poging een vlakornementale [sic] werking te bereiken het einddoel, voor zoover de practische bruikbaarheid van de pagina als leesvoorwerp daardoor niet geschaad wordt'. ('Public acknowledgement and exposition of composing and printing technique is the alpha and omega; attempt to reach a flat-ornamental effect is the final aim, in so far as the practical usability of the page as a reading object is not hampered by it'.)
