contents: Representing types as was done in the "Camera Obscura" by Hildebrand was becoming fashionable in the 19th century. Another Leiden student followed suit: Johannes Kneppelhout, who published, under the pseudonym of Klikspaan (Telltale), these "Studenten- typen" from December 1839 until May 1841. Kneppelhout's fellow-student, Jonkheer Alexander Ver Huell, who was known for his literary contributions, but above all for his humorous sketches derived from student life, made an etching for every instalment under the pseudonym O.Veralby (All over the place).
